Mary Jean Smith and John William Jones were united in marriage Saturday, June 15, 2002 at 10 o'clock in the morning. The ceremony was held at the United Evangelical Church in Greensboro. The Reverend James Howard Wilson officiated.Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted by the parents of the bride at the Greensboro Community
Association Banquet Hall. On Friday evening, the parents of the groom hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Grayfield Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Smith, Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert Smith Sr. of Greensboro, North Carolina and Mr. & Mrs. Peter Hudson of Asheboro, North Carolina. She is a graduate of Penn High School and the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She is a teacher at Jackson High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina. He is the grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina and the late Mr. & Mrs. John Jeffries of Durham, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Barkley High School and received a Master's Degree in business administration at Wake Forest University. He is a business manager at Jamison Products in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The bride was attended by her sister, Amanda Marie Jones of Greensboro, North Carolina, who served as maid of honor. Her bridesmaids were Mary Elizabeth Jones of Raleigh, sister of the groom, Patricia Jean Nelson of Asheboro, North Carolina, Roberta Ann Kelley, of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Susan Christine Alberts of Asheboro, North Carolina. Rebecca Louise Kelley of Greensboro was the flower girl.
The groom chose his father as best man. Groomsmen were Jacob Reynolds of Raleigh, North Carolina, Spencer Tyler Kemper of Winston-Salem, James Peter Tucker of Raleigh, and Jonathan Robert Alberts of Asheboro, North Carolina. Michael Steven Jones of Raleigh, the groom's nephew, was ring bearer.
Following a honeymoon in the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Greensboro.
